Allah and Fate

I have read much material about Allah and the decided fate but i am still a bit confused. My question is that Allah knows everything which is mentioned in the quran and allah has given free will to people to do things and decide what is good for them and bad......so if allah knows everything so why are we going to be judged if allah already knew what bad deed we would do..for e.g if i have to paths to go. One is the wrong one and one is the right one. if i goto the wrong one that means it was already written in my fate or allah already knew abt it , so why am i going to be punished??
